Jays Start Off 2nd Half with power

The Jays opened the unofficial start of the second half of baseball season also known as game 92 against the Rays. The game was scoreless for the first 2 innings before in the top of the 3rd Grady Sizemore hit a solo homerun off of Blue Jays starter Drew Hutchison. Hutchison left the game after pitching six innings and giving up two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks. In the bottom of the 4th Chris Colabello hit a sacrifice fly to even the score up at one run. In the fifth inning the Jays scored 5 runs against the Rays, with Josh Donaldson and Justin Smoak hitting homeruns. Bo Schultz and Robert Osuna pitched the final three innings for the Jays shutting down the Rays for the rest of the game. During the course of the game both Edwin Encarnacion and Justin Smoak hit doubles. Smoak’s line today was 2-4 with 3 Rbi’s. The Jays were 3-6 with Runners in scoring position tonight.

Game 2 against the Rays is tomorrow, R.A. Dickey (3-10) with a 4.87 era is the probable starting pitcher for the Jays against the Rays Erasmo Ramirez.
